Why This Card Matters

Heritage High Number is the fall companion to the spring Heritage set, extending the checklist past card 400 to pick up midseason trades, call-ups and players who changed uniforms - which is why a High Number card frequently shows a player in a jersey no other card that year does. Willi Castro signed out of the Dominican Republic with Cleveland, moved to Detroit in the 2018 Leonys Martin trade and made the 2024 American League All-Star team with Minnesota as a switch-hitting utility man who plays essentially anywhere. High Number prints in smaller quantities than spring Heritage, and on the same soft matte retro stock, which shows corner wear far more readily than a modern glossy card. This is the base paper version, not the Chrome parallel that shares the number.
