**Rookie Card shield present**, and it is legitimate — Topps applies the shield to a player's first flagship card after his major league debut. **One thing stated honestly:** Alvarez is **no longer rookie-eligible**. He exceeded rookie limits during the 2025 season, so this is an official RC-shielded card of a player who is past his rookie status, not a card of a current rookie.
