Taisei Makihara reached pro ball through the 2010 developmental draft, taken in the fifth round out of Johoku High School, and in 2025 he won the Pacific League batting title at .304 — the first batting champion in NPB history who entered through that draft — adding his first Best Nine and first Golden Glove. He had already hit .301 in 2022 and won the 2023 World Baseball Classic with Samurai Japan. In the 2024 season shown here he hit .283 across 78 games, the year before the title.
