Why This Card Matters
Kotaro Kiyomiya hit 111 home runs at Waseda Jitsugyo, the Japanese high school career record at the time, and a record-tying seven clubs bid on him in the 2017 draft before Nippon-Ham won the lottery. He hit a walk-off home run in Game 1 of the 2022 All-Star Game and was named the game's MVP. 2024, the season on this card, was his offensive breakout: a career-best .300 average with 15 home runs and a .524 slugging percentage over 89 games. This is his base card in the 2024 Topps 206 NPB checklist.
