Why This Card Matters
Keiji Takahashi threw a complete-game shutout in Game 2 of the 2021 Japan Series, 133 pitches in the first complete game of his career, in a championship year for Yakult. He went 8-2 with a 2.63 ERA and 113 strikeouts in 2022 and was an All-Star that season. Yakult took him in the third round of the 2015 draft out of Ryukoku University Heian High School. In 2024 he made 21 starts, going 8-9 with a 3.58 ERA and 106 strikeouts. This is his base card in the 2024 Topps 206 NPB checklist.
