Cody Ponce threw a no-hitter for Nippon-Ham against SoftBank on August 27, 2022, the first by a foreign-born pitcher in NPB since 2006. The American right-hander was a second-round MLB draft pick by Milwaukee in 2015 and pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2020 and 2021 before moving to Japan. 2024, the season on this card, was his only year with Rakuten.
