The scouting panel on the back is the reason this card exists: “Nasty splitter that produced a 63% swing-and-miss rate at the University of Florida in 2023…touches 99 mph with the fastball.” The resume adds that he did not allow more than two earned runs in any of his eight starts in 2023 across four different levels, and his printed 2023 minor-league line is 8 games, 29⅓ innings, 41 strikeouts and a 1.53 ERA. Hurston Waldrep was born 3-1-02 in Cairo, Georgia and lives in Thomasville; he stands 6'2" at 210 pounds and throws right-handed. Atlanta took him in the first round of the 2023 draft, 24th overall, out of the University of Florida, and he made his major-league debut on 6-9-24. The Up Close panel notes he was one of the top football kickers and punters in Georgia at Thomasville High, and made a start for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team.

| Condition | Raw, ungraded. Full-bleed chrome, so centering is judged off the inner navy frame — essentially even both left to right and top to bottom. Corners sharp, with a few very small light specks along the top edge that are typical chrome factory edge wear. There are two tiny white specks on the front in the lower-left quadrant, on the pant leg and just below it; they could be dust on the scan or minor chrome print dots, and are worth a second look in hand. No scratches or bends. |
