Parallel Note — Correcting A Common Misread

**This is the base chromium insert, not a Refractor** — and that is worth spelling out, because the card is bright and shiny and gets described as a Refractor constantly. The decisive point is the checklist: the 2023 Topps Chrome **"1988 Topps Baseball"** insert (prefix **88BC-**) has **no unnumbered Refractor parallel at all**. Every parallel in it is serial numbered — Green /99, Gold /50, Orange /25, Red /5, SuperFractor 1/1, Printing Plate 1/1 — confirmed across three independent checklist sources. This card has **no serial on any edge of either side**, and the back nowhere prints the word REFRACTOR. So it is the base. **The trap worth knowing:** the *Silver Pack* 1988 Chrome cards from the same era **do** have Refractor and Mojo tiers — but they carry the prefix **T88C-**, not 88BC-.
