Why This Card Matters
Anthony Kay was a first-round pick twice over — the Mets took him 31st overall in 2016 out of the University of Connecticut after he turned down their 29th-round offer in 2013 — and he came to Toronto on July 28, 2019 as part of the return in the Marcus Stroman trade, debuting in the majors that September 7. This is his rookie-year Material Signatures card from 2020 Panini Absolute, serial numbered **093 of 149**. It carries both an **on-card autograph** signed directly onto the leather and a genuine baseball-leather swatch with real raised red stitching, which is a considerably better combination than the sticker-auto, thin-swatch cards that dominate this price range.

| Condition | Raw / ungraded. Near Mint or better unless noted. Please review the front and back scans — they show the exact card you will receive, including centering, corners, edges and surface. These are full-frame scans of the actual card, front and back, at 600 dpi. Measured off them, the card comes out at **3.49 x 2.50 inches** — correct full size, with no indication of trimming. Both faces are full-bleed designs with no white border, so there is no border to measure centering against; judged instead off the relic window, the card runs about **51/49 left-to-right and 45/55 top-to-bottom**, which is well centered. All four corners are sharp and square on both faces at magnification, with no whitening or fraying, and all four edges are clean and straight with no chipping or dings. The honest flaws are cosmetic and small: a single tan speck on the front near the top, between the blue chevrons and the Absolute Baseball logo; a couple of tiny tan specks on the leather itself; and two small tan specks on the back at the lower left near the MLB Players Choice logo. Note also that this is an MLBPA-licensed product, so the card reads TORONTO with no team name or logos by design — that is not a defect. |

Autograph & Relic Detail
This is a **horizontal card**, and the relic is the whole point of it. A large die-cut window holds genuine baseball leather with real raised red stitching, spanning roughly **three-quarters of the card's width**; at magnification the laces are three-dimensional braided thread passing through punched holes in the leather. The autograph is signed **directly onto that leather** — not a sticker. It is a **light lavender paint pen**, and you can see the ink thin and skip where it crossed the leather grain, which is exactly what an on-leather signature does and what a sticker never does. Be aware the ink tone is genuinely pale rather than bold black; the scan shows it accurately, so please judge it from the image. The signature is complete, unsmudged and undisturbed. The back carries Panini's statement that the autograph is guaranteed. One point of accuracy worth stating: the back carries **no** memorabilia authentication statement, only the autograph guarantee, so the leather is manufacturer-supplied baseball material rather than certified game-used — standard for this insert. The card is serial numbered **093/149** at the top right of the front, with the ROOKIE CARD shield at the top left.
