Why This Card Matters

The back of this card recounts Baez's 2018: a career-best nine-game hitting streak in late April, then an eleven-game stretch in August in which he batted .400 and drove in sixteen runs, finishing the year at .290 with 34 home runs, 40 doubles and 111 RBI. He placed second in the National League MVP voting that season. Donruss Optic is the chromium version of Panini's Donruss line, which is why this card looks nothing like the paper #165 it shares a number with. This is the base Optic; the Holo, Pink, Pink Velocity /199, Red Wave, Blue /75, Purple /125, Purple Pandora /99, Blue Pandora /75, Red Pandora /99, Orange /99, White Sparkle SP and Cracked Ice /7 versions are all separate cards.
