Why This Card Matters
Rance Mulliniks arrived in Toronto in **March 1982**, traded from Kansas City for pitcher Phil Huffman, and gave the club **eleven seasons** at third base through 1992 as half of Bobby Cox's platoon with Garth Iorg. He hit **.300 with a .385 on-base percentage and a 143 OPS+ in 1988** and .310 in 1987, and finished as a Blue Jay at .280/.365/.424 over 1,115 games with a **franchise-record 58 pinch hits**. This is his base card in the 1989 Donruss set.

Horizontal centering measures about **54/46**, slightly left-heavy. Vertical centering is not measurable and I am not going to estimate it: the red and yellow gradient bands run full-bleed top and bottom and are asymmetric by design — the top band is roughly twice the height of the bottom one — so there is no symmetric reference. Corners are sharp, with small white nicks at the top-left and top-right tips. Edges are clean. The surface is bright with no creases or scuffs, and the orange back is clean. |

Set Note
1989 Donruss is the black-bordered base set with the distinctive **red-to-yellow gradient bands** running across the top and bottom and the "Donruss '89" logo at the lower left. The back carries the "© 1988 LEAF, INC / Printed in USA" line. This is the flagship base set, **not Donruss Baseball's Best**, which used a different blue-and-purple design and its own numbering. No parallels exist here, and there is no Rated Rookie banner on this card.
