This is Don August’s Donruss rookie card, issued before he had thrown a big-league pitch. The card back lays out the résumé: a member of the 1984 U.S. Olympic team, 14-8 with a 2.96 ERA for Double-A Columbus in 1985, and acquired from the Astros for Danny Darwin on August 15, 1986. Months after this card came out he went 13-7 with a 3.09 ERA as the winningest rookie pitcher of 1988. Base card from the blue-and-black 1988 Donruss design.
