Why This Card Matters
Cruz came to Chicago in a December 1980 trade and hit .229 over 53 games for the Cubs in 1981, finishing his career at .225 with 357 hits, 39 home runs and 200 RBI across 607 major league games. The card back notes that he and his brothers Jose and Cirilo made the Cruz family one of the few to send three brothers to the majors. #663 is his base card in the 1982 Topps set.
