Oakland made Mike Davis a third-round pick in June 1977 out of San Diego, and the back of this rookie card records that he batted .456 as a high school senior and led his entire county with 11 home runs and 16 stolen bases. He climbed through Medicine Hat, Modesto, Waterbury and Ogden before a 19-game look with the A's in 1980, the season that earned him this card. He would go on to a 1,000-hit career and a famous walk in the 1988 World Series.
